Better Place Denmark

Much has changed at Outer Nørrebro – backyards have been torn down, new buildings have emerged, and many of the old industrial buildings have been restored and now house creative businesses and educational institutions.

Text: Mike Rømer MDD

One of the buildings to undergo such a transformation is the former cooperative dairy, Enigheden, on Rentemestervej, just recently becoming the home of Better Place Denmark. The company is the Danish subsidiary of Better Place California and cooperates with governments and energy companies on the attempt to speed up the transition to sustainable transportation.

The interior décor was designed by Space and architects MAA Signe Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rutzou, and the original idea situated around Space setting up a workshop with the contractor to define the building´s overall function and identity. As Better Place Denmark view itself as a somewhat controversial organization, the goal was to create an identity that signifies a dynamic organization as well as sustainability. With that in mind, three key words emerged during the workshop that had to be implemented in the interior design, thus strengthening the company´s brand as a humanistic organization. The key words are Sensualism, Responsiveness, and Discipline - key words that perfectly portray Better Place Denmark, which has become a great place to work.
